The loss of our beautiful RRTF Layla Hopefully can serve as a safety reminder to everyone:
Please read this and if nothing else, please take with you a piece of knowledge, I wish we had thought of before we had to learn from it, the hard way.
No matter the age of your horse(s), there are hidden dangers, large and small in our pastures, barns and many places our horses visit.
Our little filly was lost due to a freak accident with her halter and a VERY small screw head on our automatic waterer.
As babies go, they will check out EVERYTHING!

Test out ANYTHING they can!

Being night time we didn’t know anything was happening and in the morning at feeding time we found our beautiful little filly dead, in the barn. She had apparently been drinking at our automatic waterer and unknown to us there was a small screw head sticking out, just the slightest amount, and the LITTLE “D” ring on her halter had got caught on it. She apparently couldn’t get away from it and in her fear, she must have fought and fallen and not been able to get back to her feet, in the end she was suffocated by her own little halter.

My Message to EVERYONE:
PLEASE don’t leave halter’s on your horse(s) of any age, if you are not with them. It only takes a split second for them to get into trouble.

IT ONLY TAKES A TINY THING TO DO BIG DAMAGE!

Layla, my beauty, you were the sweetest baby I’d ever shared time with. Though you left us so soon, you made a huge impression on us and that, will be remembered by us always!

Trot my little filly, in hills of green and fields of flowers!

“Sometimes Angel’s Fly Away”
I watched a young girl and her Gypsy mare ride Free-style to this song and I broke down and cried, I had to post it here for my Layla
She was my little angel!
